US state privacy rights
Who this applies to
If you live in a US state with a comprehensive consumer privacy law, you have the rights set out below. That currently includes California, Colorado, Connecticut, Delaware, Indiana, Iowa, Kentucky, Maryland, Minnesota, Montana, Nebraska, New Hampshire, New Jersey, Oregon, Rhode Island, Tennessee, Texas, Utah and Virginia, and the list continues to grow. We extend these rights to everyone in the United States rather than checking which state you are in.
We do not sell or share your personal information
We do not sell personal information, and we do not share it for cross-context behavioural advertising, as those terms are defined by California law and its equivalents elsewhere. We run no advertising and no third-party analytics or advertising trackers in the app. There is therefore nothing for you to opt out of — but the right below exists in case that ever changes, and it would change only with notice.
We do not use your data for profiling
No decision producing legal or similarly significant effects about you is made by automated means. The AI features answer questions and read documents; they do not score, rank or profile you.
What we collect, in the categories these laws use
Identifiers: your email address and an account identifier. Commercial information: your subscription status and how much of your AI allowance you have used. Internet activity: basic diagnostic and crash information. Audio: consultation recordings, if you choose to make them. Visual: photographs you upload of your pet and of discharge sheets. The breathing timer shows a live camera preview so you can watch your pet while you count, but that preview is never recorded, stored or sent anywhere — only the number you save. Other information you provide: everything you record about your pet. We do not collect precise geolocation, biometric identifiers, government identifiers, or information about your own health.
Sensitive personal information
Your pet's health information is information about an animal, not about you, and is not "sensitive personal information" as these laws define it. We flag it here anyway because it is plainly personal to you, and we treat it with the same care. We do not use or disclose it for any purpose beyond providing the service, so there is nothing to limit — but you may ask us to limit it regardless and we will honour the request.
Your rights
To know what we hold about you and why. To a copy of it in a portable form. To correct it. To delete it. To opt out of sale, sharing, targeted advertising and profiling — none of which we do. To limit the use of sensitive personal information. And to be free from any penalty or worse service for exercising any of these rights, which we will never impose.
How to exercise them
Access, correction, portability and deletion are all built into the app: Settings holds your profile, every record can be edited where you entered it, Settings → Your data → Export my data gives you everything we hold as a machine-readable JSON file, and Settings → Your data → Delete account & data erases everything immediately and permanently. For anything else, including the photographs and recordings the export cannot carry, email [email protected] from the address on your account. We respond within 45 days and will tell you if we need a further 45, as these laws allow.
If we say no, you can appeal
If we decline a request we will tell you why. You may appeal by replying to that decision or emailing [email protected] with "appeal" in the subject. We will decide within 45 days and explain the outcome in writing. If we deny the appeal we will tell you how to complain to your state Attorney General.
Someone acting for you
You may use an authorised agent to make a request. We will ask for proof that you authorised them, and we may ask you to confirm the request directly.
California Shine the Light
We do not disclose personal information to third parties for their own direct marketing purposes, so there is nothing to report under California Civil Code section 1798.83.
Washington My Health My Data
This law covers information about a consumer's own health. This app records information about animals, and we do not collect information about your health. We do not sell any health data, and we would not do so without the separate written authorisation that law requires.
